Dear All

Ramsbottom will be holding a level 4 Development gala on Saturday 15th March 2025. This is open to Performance 2, Development 1 and 2. As these are competitive groups there is an expectation for all swimmers 9 and over to compete in this gala so we are able to see the skills they have or need to work on to progress and to achieve some official ASA times. We will be working on these skills up until the meet.

As it’s a development gala, swimmers who achieve times faster than the current county qualification times will be awarded a speeding ticket, so will not be eligible for a medal but it is a very positive indicator of a ‘good time’ for that race. So your swimmer should be reassured that a speeding-ticket is a good thing. Then, medals will then be awarded to the first 3 swimmers without a ticket.

As this is an official meet, all races will be judged according to ASA rules. We understand that some swimmers may be upset if they get disqualified in a race. Most swimmers at the start of their competitive swimming journey get a disqualification at some point, but we would ask that you support us on this to use it as a point of how to improve for future competitions. We have recently timed the swimmers and made notes on areas to improve and will share some videos via what’s app for you to show them and support there development.

FACILITIES 25m pool complex with anti-wave lane ropes and Swiss Timing Quantum timing system in operation with scoreboard display.

COST: Fixed fee of £12 for up to 5 races
